TCC TO A DEGREE

After I retired from the military, I'm going back to school to pursue an
Associates Degree in Graphic Design at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach/Norfolk, Virginia.
This page is a showcase of the projects I did during the semesters.
 - Completed Semester One - Summer 2026.
ART 121 — Foundation of Drawing
My first studio art class. Learned the basics in shapes and shading values. Used mediums of graphite pencil, charcoal, and one-point perspective.
ART 141 — Typography One
Learned the basic foundations of Typography, editing letters, body text, and page layouts. Used programs of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
ART 180 — Introduction to Computer Graphics
Learned the design process from idea to visual concept using Illustrator and Photoshop. Created a self portrait, city poster, and digital collages.
ART 131 — Two-Dimensional Design
Many projects and assignments learning design principles of art. Weekly sketchbook prompts, learning workshops, expanding module concepts and a final collage.
ENG 111 — English Composition One
Beside the essays, the final argument/research essay required a class presentation. Created a PowerPoint game — a middle school digital detective for a digital citizen program.
SDV 100 — College Success Skills
Required for first-time students — focused on preparation, resources, and personal reflection through the college experience. One project was creating a personal vision board.
